Yamaha XT 1200Z Super Tenere

Foto ©: Yamaha Officially launches long-awaited XT1200Z Yamaha Super Tenere 2010, a motorcycle adventure designed for transcontinental expedition, which offers comfort, reliability, joy and effortless performance on any terrain.

The first generation Yamaha Super Tenere was a motorcycle adventure, made between 1989 and 1994, commercial version of the famous motorcycle rally YZE 850T, which has won no less than eight times Dakar Rally. It was equipped with an engine 749cmc 2-cylinder, which develops 70 hp, and had a table full of their own to 240kg. XTZ 750 Super Tenere appeared as competitor for the Honda Africa Twin, also a commercial version of a motorcycle winner of the Dakar Rally.


Super Tenere 1200 is a completely new project and does not share any technical solution to its predecessor. The main changes are given by the new high-capacity engine, transmission through cardan final, unified system equipped with ABS brakes, traction control system and ride-by-wire throttle YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle).

The new liquid-cooled DOHC propeller's Super Tenere is 2-cylinder, 4 valves and 1199 cc. It develops a power of 110 hp at 7.250rpm and 114.1 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm. Engine cooling is through a radiator located on the right side of the motorcycle, hence the asymmetry carenelor side. The frame is steel, preferably in place of aluminum and high rigidity due to suspension is provided by a 43mm inverted fork and a mono-shock absorber, both fully adjustable and with a stroke of 190mm. Hospitals aluminum wheels are tubeless and I wear a set of Bridgestone Battle Wing tires, 110/80/19 for the front, 150/70/17 back respectively. Unified Braking System Braking System (UBS) has ABS as standard and is one of the most advanced brake systems ever built by Yamaha. It was designed specifically to give the correct front and rear brakes when used only the front brake lever.

Traction control system has three operating modes: TCS1 is the standard and will intervene whenever the rear wheel to lose grip, TCS2 has a lesser effect to allow small slippage of the back during May pilotarii off-road and Eventually the system can be completely disabled. The new Super Tenere comes equipped with selectable injection maps (D-mode): the sports cause an instant response of acceleration for maximum performance while Touring Map provides a smoother power delivery.

Despite the new Super Tenere is aimed bestseller's deposition said BMW R 1200 GS, Japanese model presents itself in 2010 with an Curb Weight (in full) with 32kg more than the competitor or German (though not having it in the standard equipment such as side bags, ABS and engine protections). Reservations for Super Tenere first edition will start in March 2010, motorcycle making its debut on the European market and as a special edition of one year, that will be in a standard equipment package adventure: Aluminum side bags, headlamp protection, shield engine aluminum and a special sticker. Since 2011 all of which will become optional.

The list of accessories for the new Yamaha bike adventure is found : a tall windscreen, designed by fog, engine protection bars, sleeves heated to low, top aluminum case of 30 liters, inner bags for all the aluminum and the tank backpack.
