Valentino Rossi Takes Ugly Accident in Stride

Foto ©: Valentino Rossi Valentino Rossi, MotoGP legend known by the nickname Il dottore, reached this weekend in the hands of doctors after an open fracture at right leg.

Rossi is expected to be out for up to six months after surgery on a fracture to his right shin and fibula, an injury that dampened his chances of retaining his title.

Valentino Rossi, the man who dominates MotoGP many years and who has not missed any Grand Prix in his career, has had a terrible accident this weekend.

 

 



 

During the session qualifications Rossi lost control of a chicanery and was thrown on the gravel of the Italian circuit. Impact with the ground was a very brutal and as his team suffered an open fracture of the tibia. Emergency transportation to hospital in Florence, Il dottore was operated immediately, introducing the four bone screws to fix them. Italian rider today but will have an operation to close the open wound.



In the 15 years competing Valentino has not missed a race. It seems that the injury will even lose much of the season, providing that the doctors at best Rossi could turn on two wheels over two months. Season is compromised and his title chances before the race with Rossi was unlucky to six points behind leader Jorge Lorenzo.

Sunday's race was won by Spaniard Dani Pedrosa, second place is clasându his countrymen Jorge Lorenzo and favorite this season. Podium was completed by Italian Andrea Dovizioso. Pedrosa made a perfect race that succeeds in being the first rider to win a race this year after he went from pole position.
