Japanese carmaker Honda, missing this year from the EICMA saloon, take advantage of this time to launch a new model, Shadow RS.
The new cruiser Honda seems to be a direct attack on Harley-Davidson Sportster 883, the most affordable model in the range U.S. manufacturer. RS completed as Cruis medium range which currently includes models Shadow 750, Shadow 750 and Shadow 750 Spirit Black Spirit.
Shadow RS wants to be a very maneuverable bike accessible, suitable for daily use. The new model has the full weight of only 229.5 kilograms (21 pounds less than the Sportster 883) and a wheelbase of 1560mm, with 84mm lower than that of Shadow Spirit. The bike is powered by the same engine V2 of 745cmc, liquid cooled and powered by PGM-FI fuel injection, but a variant of 43cp and 61.8 Nm.
Saddle has a height of 737mm, an appropriate value pilots of any height. According to the Japanese, natural position, intuitively placed controls, easy handling and reduced fuel consumption, turn cruiser into a good option for daily transport. Unfortunately the container has a capacity of just 10.7 liters but said consumption of 4 liters per 100 km would have to assure autonomy for at least 200km.
The chapters design, RS seems the combination of a classic motorcycle cruiser European and American one, but we can not observe the similarities with the Sportster 883, the main rival.
Regarding the price of the new Shadow RS, should we expect it to be in around 7000 euros, to compete with the American model.
