Honda has officially announced that the dual-clutch transmission developed the first fully automatic transmission which uses double clutch, designed for motorcycles with engine displacement greater sports. The first model will benefit from this technology will be the new VFR.
Pilots will be part of an experience more sports, combined with ease of use and superior efficiency in terms of transmission, which results in fuel economy over a traditional transmission. The new VFR will be the first large displacement motorcycles will use this technology, and will be released in Europe and North America in 2010, sales in Japan following the later start.
The first twin-clutch transmission for motorcycles in the world has a compact construction and low in weight, which favors its combination with several types of engines, without substantial changes. Moreover, the new transmission favors an extremely precise handling control achieved due to electronic throttle, which help change very smooth steps, without sudden reactions.
To meet the needs of pilots on a large scale as the transmission is equipped with three operating modes, two of which are fully automatic (D - for normal use and S - for use in sports). Contains 6-speed manual mode, and provide the same feedback as a normal manual gearbox.
Honda plans to gradually use the new gear on most motorcycles with large displacement engines, particularly the models sold on the biggest sports markets.
